Stock Allowance AND Cutter Comp

Postby GWB on Mon Mar 15, 2010 9:26 am

So if I leave .005 in x and y, and do a .005 finish cut finish when roughing in the pocket program, the finished stock will still be .005 over?
If a do a seperate operation ,like a .005 finish cut in the pocket program, the part should be drawing size and not .oo5 over?

What I read is that when stock is left, even though a finish pass is made, the part will still be "fat" the amount you selected for Stock Allowance.
The only way to remove is with a seperate finish operation where no allowance mount is indicated ???

And you may also use the WEAR option, and remove at the control ?
Using A HAAS VF3 VF2, Do I still enter the tool radius?
The offset on ours are set to Dia. as Camworks is the main CAM software .
If I have to enter the radius when I use the Wear setting, can I leave the controler set to DIA. and enter the DIA or Do I have to set to Radius??

Thanks

Thanks,

g

True, stock to leave will leave stock on the part

If stock to leave is set to zero, the part will be cut "to size" in the pocket operation, stock to leave has nothing to do with the amount to leave for a finish pass, that has its own box on the finish parameters page

And you may also use the WEAR option, and remove at the control ?

Do not enter any tool offset at the control when you use wear. Run your part, if there is any adjustment necessary, enter the adjustment into your tool offset register.
example- Your part measures .002 oversize. Enter -.001 in the tool offset register. (the part will be cut .001 smaller per side)
